When It Gets Hard · Part Three • 1
What You Actually Do
Think of a recent moment of conflict or tension in a relationship — not necessarily a blowout, but a moment when things got uncomfortable. Someone said something that landed wrong. A disagreement surfaced. You felt the friction. What did you actually do? Not what you wish you'd done. Not the calm, measured response you thought of later in the shower. What did you actually do in the moment? Did you engage? Withdraw? Get defensive? Go quiet? Raise your voice? Make it about something else? Apologize too quickly just to make it stop? Pretend nothing happened? Look at your response without judgment — just with curiosity. This is your default under pressure. It's the move your system makes before your conscious mind gets involved. What does it tell you about what you're protecting when conflict arrives?
